Qualtech Systems, Inc. (QSI) Announces Strong Performance in 2008
Wethersfield, CONNECTICUT (February 18, 2009): Qualtech Systems, Inc. (QSI), a recognized leader in advanced diagnostics and system health management software solutions, today announced that it has followed its breakthrough year in 2007 with a strong performance in 2008.
After making the decision in 2007 to transition its business mix from consulting and engineering services to software products, QSI has experienced revenue growth of more than 50% in less than 2 years. This decision, based on the company’s success in developing diagnostic software solutions that are proven, mature and highly sought after by commercial enterprises, continued to fuel the company’s expansion into new markets in 2008. According to QSI’s President and Chief Technology Officer, Somnath, Deb, Ph.D., “From rockets and spacecraft (Aries and Orion) to manufacturing of high-tech equipment (semiconductor OEMs) to transportation (cars, buses and submarines) - wherever downtime costs money – we have found new customers.” Dr. Deb continued, “The global recession presents both a challenge and opportunity for us. Companies are looking for new ways to reduce costs. Our software helps service organizations reduce Cost of Service while improving Quality of Service, and that message has a strong appeal in this economic environment.”
Originally founded as a research company dedicated to offering consulting and engineering services to NASA, aerospace companies and the military, QSI began to develop diagnostic software as part of each project. A decade of collaboration has produced a suite of software known as TEAMS™ (Testability Engineering And Maintenance System). The software suite consists of four primary software tools that support systems engineering; systems design and testability; automated diagnostics and troubleshooting; and system autonomy. These tools are: TEAMS Designer™, a tool used in static design/analysis phases of complex systems; TEAMS RDS™ (Remote Diagnosis Server), an application that can support multiple simultaneous diagnostic sessions from a variety of remote systems; TEAMATE™, a self-contained, untethered laptop capable of performing all the diagnostics without any connectivity back to the host server; and TEAMS-RT™, a real-time diagnostic engine that provides diagnostic functionality for embedded system diagnosis and integrated health management. TEAMS RDS™ can also be embedded into a run-time architecture which translates results from diagnostics, automatic tests, and manual tests conducted by the technician into clear instructions.
After collaborating with NASA on Project Constellation, QSI enhanced its software capabilities and adapted its products for the business and technical requirements of large-scale commercial operations. The TEAMS software is effective in a wide variety of industries, including transportation systems, medical equipment, factory and industrial systems, telecommunications, computer systems, and refinery (oil and gas) systems. The company found that it could customize solutions for customers and implement them into existing infrastructures and workflow, enabling every technician to perform to the same high standard while maximizing the customer’s return on investment. The software Qualtech produces is now becoming highly sought after by major companies and is an integral part of critical, innovative projects that receive international attention.
Dr. Deb further stated, “In a slowing economy, the business case for QSI-TEAMS solutions is stronger than ever. We are very well positioned to ride out this recession, being debt-free with a growing customer base and healthy net margins. In fact,” he added with a wink, “we are helping finance the bailout by paying our largest tax ever!”
